Inspired by modeling poses, voguers bring the runway to the dance floor with moves like spins, death drops and catwalking. Chanel, recently crowned Woman Voguer of the Year, even runs the local vogue event Banjee Ball at the Standard Hotel in DTLA -- all to maintain a safe space where members of the queer community can express themselves and their femininity. Competitive voguer Isla Chanel of Los Angeles is repping a dance movement that evolved out of 1960s-era gay, trans, black and Latino communities and later expanded to accept women and all parts of the LGBT community.
